I am a freelance paintings conservator based in Amsterdam.
My interest in art and conservation developed early from a focus on aesthetics and materials. This led to my study of Art History at the University of Amsterdam and in Florence, Italy. After receiving a Master’s degree in 2001, I followed the five years’ postdoctorate training program in Conservation of Paintings at the Limburg Conservation Institute (SRAL) in Maastricht. I graduated in 2006.
My field of expertise is focused on (but not restricted to) modern paintings. Artists whose paintings I have been working on are Mondriaan, Appel, Van Gogh, Chagall, Doesburg, Sluijters, Rothko, Haring and Malevich.
Besides my conservation practice I have also been engaged in lecturing. From 2010 until 2020 I have been teaching within the Master program of Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Heritage at the University of Amsterdam.
